The Heather!
Jeanna de Waal will be playing the role of Heather starting this week. Her website is filled with a bio and sound clips of her voice for those of you who are curious. Although I will really miss Mary, I am looking forward to seeing Jeanna next month!
Goodbye and Good Luck!
Goodbye and good luck, Mary Faber! Mary concluded her run for American Idiot on Broadway on Sunday night. She is leaving the show to join the cast of How to Succeed which begins previews in February. I am so sad she is leaving since she originally was in the Berkeley Rep cast before they came to Broadway, but fortunately I was able to see her twice as Heather, the face of the I Hella Heart Oakland tshirt. Good luck, Mary! I hope to see you soon :)

Extraordinary Girl
I never realized just how hard it is to find out about cast members from American Idiot until I started searching for Christina Sajous' bio. The best one I found was on broadway.com Christina Sajous Bio I can't say it even has basic info like her birthday, but it gives a short background on how at 16 she made sort of a bucket list of things she wanted to accomplish by her 25th birthday, and being on Broadway was one of them!
One of my favorite scenes in American Idiot is when Tunny hallucinates and sees his nurse flying as the Extraordinary Girl. She is so elloquent as she flies over the wounded soldiers and embraces Tunny and his nightmares. One can feel a sense of calm while watching her as she gracefully outstretches her hands toward him but barely touches his fingertips as he falls back down to reality.
My countdown to seeing AI again officially begins today!! January 8th...30 more days...

An Introduction to Tunny
I realized today that as much as I love American Idiot on Broadway, I really don't know much about the cast. I thought I would include a short bio each day about one of their primary actors and today I was thinking about Tunny, Johnny's friend who heads off to war, played by Stark Sands.
>>>>>Taken from http://www.starksandsonline.com/:
Born 30 September 1978 Dallas, Texas, USA Stark Sands grew up in Dallas, Texas, where he began acting on the stage at age 13 at Highland Park High School.
He received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in acting from the University of Southern California. During his four years in the intense conservatory program, he appeared in more than a dozen plays and musicals, including "Romeo and Juliet", "Macbeth", "Hamlet", "Pippin" and "Guys and Dolls".
Sands' professional career began immediately after graduation. He has been seen as a recurring love interest to the angst-ridden teen, Claire Fischer (Lauren Ambrose), on HBO's critically acclaimed series, "Six Feet Under" and has co-starred in "Me and Daphne", a short film directed by Rebecca Gayheart and produced by Brett Ratner. He has also co-starred in the independent film, Pack of Dogs (2002), directed by Ian Kessner.
Sands made his feature film debut opposite Natasha Lyonne and Jason Priestly in Die Mommie Die (2003), an adaptation of Charles Busch's play. He also has a co-starring role in the major motion picture, "Shall we dance," with Richard Gere and Jennifer Lopez. <<<<<
Stark Sands effectively embraces the role of Tunny. At first Tunny seems like a normal punk ass kid going nowhere in life. While wasting his life away in bed by sleeping, he exclaims, "Blah fucking blah." A typical response from a "what the fuck am I going to do with my life" kind of kid.
After being seduced by military images on tv, Tunny goes off to war. He finds himself in battle and loses a leg and his innocence. Stark portrays Tunny's pain so realistically that one can almost feel the ghost pains where Tunny's leg is no more.
I didn't have the chance to meet Stark after the shows I went to last September, but hopefully for my next trip in January I will be able to. He is an amazing young actor and I look forward to following him more as his career takes him further.

St. Billie's Comin' Down Across the Alleyway...
A rush of excitment has washed over me today after hearing the announcement that Billie Joe Armstrong will reprise his role as St. Jimmy in his Tony Award Winning Broadway Play American Idiot! I saw him debut back on September 28th and what an amazing performance. Now beginning January 1, 2011 and ending February 27th, Billie Joe will once again play the creepy overbearing drug dealer that casts a shadow on Johnny's questionable life. I can hardly wait to go see it again!
